Bodies and gloss colour paintwork by Christoph Dahlhausen
Bodies – always plural, even as individual works – are panels whose front surface is usually coated with high-gloss polished car paint. They can be very small (mini bodies = 5 x 5 x 3 cm) or quite large, measuring 235 x 150 cm. They come as individual pieces, pairs, triptychs, but also as ensembles. The substrate is a material used in aircraft construction – aluminium honeycomb panels. The result of the slow and multi-step working process are panel paintings that oscillate between object and surface, between stability and fluidity.
