Light and Reflection: Christoph Dahlhausen
Artist / Curator / Author
Light, colour and space are the guiding principles of Christoph Dahlhausen’s artistic work. Both natural and artificial light and the interactions of light with reflective and translucent materials are at the centre of his installations and objects.
Light and colour as materials are also reflected in many of the exhibitions curated by Christoph Dahlhausen or become the subject of his publications, as in »Lightborn«.
As a curator, he has been organising international exhibitions for various institutions since the 1990s. From 2003 to 2019, he ran the exhibition project spaces »proximus« and »raum2810« in Bonn.

Christoph et des amis I and II / G.B.Kunst / Trier
31 October – 21 November 2025 and 28 November – 19 December 2025
In this double exhibition, internationally active artist and curator Christoph Dahlhausen presents works by colleagues with whom he has been friends for a long time, used to be friends, or would have liked to have been friends. In many ways, the works and artistic positions are companions. The works on display are, on the one hand, unique pieces and, on the other hand, editions and multiples, i.e. limited editions.
The significance of editioned works varies greatly among the different art genres. While editions are the norm for photographers, graphic artists and some sculptors, painters, object and installation artists typically focus on unique pieces.
Some artists create editions that appear to be smaller versions of their unique pieces or copies with higher print runs, while others develop completely new approaches for their editions that differ significantly from the unique pieces.
The aim and appeal of this double exhibition, which brings together well-known international artists and so-called newcomers, is to take a look at these different approaches among artists.
For this opulent exhibition, featuring over 30 positions from 14 countries, Dahlhausen draws on many edition works from the programme of Edition youngcollectors.de, based in Swisstal-Miel near Bonn. The curator supplements these works with unique pieces, some of which come from various private collections.
‘Christoph et des amis I’ focuses on painting and materiality, while the second exhibition, ‘Christoph et des amis II,’ presents works whose theme is light and reflection.
